I can’t wait
until summertime.
Coats , sweaters, scarves , hats and gloves.
Bundled up from head to toe.
I really can’t
wait until the day I can take them all off.
Seeing the snowflakes fall from the sky,
At least twice a week.
As I watch the
dirty snow pile up on the streets.
Turning to the
news at 5am to check for school,
Watching the playbacks of the
mayor saying
“Its very dangerous outside, New York is under a state of
emergency. Stay inside if you can. Expect public schools to be open today.”
I’m counting down the days until summertime.
When I wake up, with a day free of plans.
I can’t wait until I don’t have to wear my Winter boots,
And I can put on my sandals.
June 21st.
A day full of freedom, from this long cold winter.
