Most
aren’t as fearless as Maya Angelou in her poem “Life Doesn’t Frighten Me” reading this poem makes me think that you
shouldn’t be afraid of life and the challenges
that come up along the way.
While reading
the poem , I realized that the line breaks emphasize the feeling in the line
“Life Doesn’t Frighten Me At All’’ because she usually ends each stanza with
that line.
In the 4th stanza it says
“ Tough guys fight/ All alone at night/ Life doesn’t
frighten me at all”
The speaker starts out the next paragraph explaining why she ins’t afraid of life. This
pattern is repeated through out the poem,
In stanza 8 she explains
“Panthers in the park/ Strangers in the dark / No, they don’t frighten me at all”
I found
this line in the 9th stanza interesting because it said
“ If I’m
afraid at all/ its only in my
dreams”
I interpreted this line to mean that you can’t be afraid of life, and
even if your dreams scare you, you still have to follow them and try and
achieve your goals.
I like how Maya Angelou ends the poem
“Life Doesn’t frighten Me at all/ not at all/ not at all/
Life doesn’t frighten me at all’’
Because she is reassuring the reader that she
really is fearless , no matter what challenges and problems pop up in her life
she is brave and will be able to face them.
After reading
this poem , I realized that you shouldn’t be afraid to live your life, and
should have a fearless attitude and be open minded just like the author Maya Angelou. This poem
teaches me that you shouldn’t be afraid of life, and that if your dreams scare you there worth following.
I think my favorite part of this response was when you referred to the ending of the poem where you said that Maya Angelou was reassuring the reader that she is fearless and that she is a brave character no matter what the problem is. I also liked how you included your interpretations into the response. I like the last line when you said "and that if your dreams scare you they're worth following." That line made me think that no matter what happens, just go with the flow.. Really nice response to poetry.
ReplyDeleteI think your writing is very strong. I really like how you said, I interpreted instead of saying, this shows. I also like how you ended your response with your thoughts. It leaves the reader thinking.
