FINAL BLOG POST: "Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close" By: Jonathan Safran Foer

"Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close" is about nine year old Oskar Schell , who's dad died in the tragedy of 9/11. He goes on a secret mission to find a key, that was found in his dads closet in an envelope labeled "Black". He goes through all five boroughs to find people with the last name "Black" with hopes of finding out more information of his dad's death. He finds out more about himself.

Oskar is a very intelligent nine year old boy, he is very curious and adventurous. After the 9/11 attacks, he became very aware of his surroundings. He would tell his mom that he is "sick" so he got to stay home from school while she went to work. That is the time when he would go on adventures around New York to find out more about the key that was left behind by his dad. He makes friends with his upstairs neighbor "Mr.Black" who he met through this search, who goes on these missions with him.

Oskar has a more close relationship with his grandma then his mom, he spends more time with her and at her house or his grandma comes to there house because his mom is always at work.

I think that searching for the key was like getting some type of closure from his dad, because while he was going around on this mission/adventure, he felt like his dad was alive still because he was re-telling his story to strangers. But that was a good outlet for him because he got to let out a lot of his emotions towards the tragedy.

The book flips back and forth from the perspective of Oskar, his grandmother, letters from his grandfather and his mom. I think that this makes the book more interesting because you get to view the plot from other characters point of views.

This book makes you cherish the moments that you have with your family. Because nobody knew that on 9/11, some of their family members wouldn't be coming home that evening. Neither did Oskar. When his dad left the voicemail saying he just wanted to let them know he was ok.
